About
Hi, I'm Karo.
Over the last decade, I tested the waters of entrepreneurship, biomedical sciences, clinical nutrition and strategy consulting, all while moving across 5 countries. In this period, I nailed navigating change and I'm here to share the resources, methods and systems that have helped me through my 20s. Expect actionable tips and content on careers, entrepreneurship, mindset and more.
Here's a short rundown of what I've been up to:
- After graduating from high school, I took a gap year and moved to Amsterdam to launch a cake bakery, Miss Cookie.
- Having seen some success I decided to switch gears and pursue a higher degree at Amsterdam University College (AUC) in Liberal Arts and Sciences, majoring in Biomedical Sciences.
- During my time at AUC and University of Queensland, Australia, where I did a 6-month exchange, I fell in love with gut microbiome, personalised nutrition and epigenetics.
- This led me to do an internship at the Academic Medical Center (AMC) in Amsterdam, focusing on the influence of gut microbiota-derived metabolites on pancreatic function and inflammation in type 1 diabetes. Simultaneously, I worked at a skincare shop and organised and led a 3-month career & personal development student workshop.
- I then continued on my microbiome-nutrition-epigenetics path when I moved to London to begin a Master in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition at University College London (UCL), while working as a nutritionist at a personalised nutrition startup, ZOE. At the same time, I was working on launching an education technology venture, akadudio.
- Coming to the conclusion that there is nothing quite as exciting for me as bringing a new idea to life, I decided to focus on further building business skills. This led me to transition to strategy consulting at a Big4 company in Geneva, where I currently work.
I am always happy to chat so feel free to reach out and say hello 🙂
